User Information

Each Easy-IP user must have the following information.

Username

A unique username to be used as an identity when connecting to the Easy-IP Server

Full Name

A descriptive name for the user

Email address

No two users can use the same email address. It is possible however, to leave the email address blank. If the username is not included certain functionality that requires an email address will be unavailable to the user e.g. Reset forgotten password, email user etc.

If you wish to add an existing Windows user you can click the Select Windows User button.

Selecting a Windows user will automatically set the authentication type to Windows Authentication. All Windows user names must be preceded by their domain or the computer name. For example, apple\stevejobs

Privileges

A user has two types of privilege; administrative and access. The administrative privilege defines what administrative actions a user can perform. See the User Administrator Privileges section for more information. Access privileges define which Autonomous Networks, Groups and Subnets the user can access. They also dictate the functionality that is available to the user. See the Access Privileges section for more information.

Authentication

Easy-IPv6 currently supports two types of authentication; Native and Windows. You can have users of both types connecting to the server at the same time via the Windows or Web applications.

The Disable Account option is available for all account types. When selected, the user will not be able to connect to the Easy-IP Server. Note that this option only applies to Easy-IP accounts. Windows users will still be able to access other applications using their Windows account.

Native Authentication

Force the user to change their password the next time they login

Selecting this option will force the user to change their password before they can logon to the Easy-IP Server.

Set the password manually

Allows you to define a new password for the user. This is often used in conjunction with "Force the user to change their password the next time they login" to make sure that the user does not use the password provided by the Administrator more than once. When this option is selected, you must enter the user's password and repeat it in the Repeat Password box.

Email the username and a random password to the user *

When this option is selected a random password and account details will be emailed to the user

* Only available when adding a user, not when editing.

Windows Authentication

Windows authentication does not take any additional parameters. All Windows user information is edited via the Windows administrator.
