Add Child Subnets

||
In order to organise your allocated IP address space, you typically sub-divide it into smaller subnets. In Easy-IPv6, you can do this by selecting a subnet and adding child subnets.

Adding Child Subnets to a subnet without children
To add child subnets, a subnet must be selected first.

To add Child Subnets, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Click the Add Subnets button on the toolbar. The Add new subnets dialog box appears. Alternatively, right-click any selected Subnet, and choose Add Subnets from the menu. |
| 2. | Select All Subnets or Selected Subnets from the drop down menu depending on whether you need to add all the child subnets or just a subset. |
| 3. | Adjust the Child Mask until the number of Child Subnets is displayed. |
| 4. | Click OK to create the new child subnets, or Cancel to abort the operation. |
You can add child subnets to multiple subnets if all the subnets selected in the subnet browser have the same subnet mask and IP version.
If the parent subnet already contains IP addresses, they will be preserved along with any data records.
You can also select Enter Subnets from the drop down menu if you would like to add the child subnets manually.
Adding Child Subnets to a subnet with children
If you select a subnet that already has children then click Add Children, you will be presented with the add unallocated subnets dialog.

This dialog allows you to select which child subnets to add. Available subnets are displayed in green, existing subnets are shown in blue.
Changing the value of the Minimum subnet mask box allows you to control the masks of the unallocated subnets.
Use the All subnets, Existing subnets and Available subnets radio buttons to control the types of subnet that are displayed.
Click Add checked subnets to add the checked subnets to the database.
