The Report Dialog is a full featured report viewer that allows you to print, preview, export and schedule reports. The Report Dialog can be opened by clicking the Reports button on the Tools ribbon tab.

The Report Dialog is made up of 4 areas.

1.Report tree.
2.Report description.
3.Export controls.
4.Report view list and controls.

Report Tree

The Report Tree displays a hierarchical list of the available reports.

Select a report to display it's properties and controls. Click New Report to create a new report, Edit Report to open the selected report in the report editor and Delete Report to delete the selected report.

Report Description

The Report Description describes the properties of the currently selected report.

Export Controls

This functionality is not available in the Web Client.

The Export Controls allow you to extract the raw data from a report query and export it to XML, CSV or HTML.

To export the data, select a report and an export format and click Export Now. If the report requires user input parameters you will be presented with the parameter edit form.

Some parameters, such as tree path and Subnet ID will default to the currently selected group or subnet. Edit the parameters then click OK.

In the case of CSV and HTML exports you will now be presented with an additional dialog that allows you to enter additional properties for the exported data. These dialogs are identical to those that you will see when you export data from the subnet browser. Follow the link for more information. Once you are happy, click OK to begin exporting the report data.

You can also schedule the export of report data. The procedure is almost exactly the same as exporting data immediately except that you must use the Schedule button. This time however, instead of exporting the data immediately, you will be presented with the Schedule Wizard.

This page of the Schedule Wizard allows you to select the file to which the data will be exported or an email address to which it will be sent. Click Next when you are happy with your settings.

This page of the Schedule Wizard allows you to select which Autonomous Networks, Groups or Subnets will be used to provide the default values for the report. You can multi select items in the subnet browser. Clicking Next will take you to the next page of the wizard that is documented here.

Report view list and controls

The Report View List displays all the report views available for the selected report. A report view is simply a way of displaying the report data in a more human readable form. There are two types of report view; FastReport and Simple.

A FastReport view is based on the award winning FastReport reporting engine. It allows you to produce extremely rich report views in a similar manner to expensive third party applications such as Crystal Reports.

A Simple report view is based on HTML and can be viewed in any web browser. It does not have any complex features, but it is simple to produce.

A report can be Printed or Previewed by clicking the appropriate button. If the selected view is a FastReport view, it will be displayed something like this:

Report views can also be exported. When exporting a FastReport view you can select the format for the export from the drop down list.

Simple reports are always exported as HTML and as such, the format drop down is not displayed. A Simple Report preview will look something like this:

Report views are exported in exactly the same way as Report Data, by clicking either the Export Now or Schedule button.
