These settings control the way in which client applications connect to the Easy-IP Server.

Port

This is the TCP port that clients will use to connect to the server. If you change it from the default setting, clients will need to add the port to the IP address/host name of the server when they connect. e.g. if your server name is EasyIPServer and you are connecting on port 4242, you would use the "EasyIPServer:4242" as the client connection string.

If you have a Firewall between your clients and the Easy-IP Server you will need to open this port on the Firewall.

Inactivity Timeout

The number of minutes that can pass before an inactive client session is disconnected. The inactivity timer is reset each time the client contacts the server. If the setting is 0, the client connections will never timeout.

Session Timeout

The session timeout is the amount minutes that can pass before an inactive session is deleted on the server.

Client Request Timeout

This is the number or milliseconds that can pass before the client gives up on a server request. If you are seeing timeouts, try increasing this value.

Compress data between the client and the server

When checked, all data between the server and clients will be compressed. This can greatly improve response times, but will add an extra load to the server.

Encrypt data between client and server

When this option is selected and the keys are entered, all clients connecting to the server will be asked for a send and receive key. These keys will only be requested the first time the client connects. On subsequent connections the keys will be retrieved from the local machine where they are securely stored.

User File Directory

This is the directory where user files will be stored. User files are files generated by the server that will eventually need to be retrieved by a user. Examples include exports, reports etc.
