Virtual Server Files

||
Virtual Files are user files that are stored in the Easy-IP database. This has the advantage that the files are backed up and restored along with the database. Additionally, administrators have full control over which files users have access to.
To view/edit the virtual files stored in the database select the Tools ribbon tab then click Virtual Server Files.

There are two root folders; System and Users. The System folder contains a single folder, Default user configurations. Below the Default user configurations you will find the files and folders that will be available to users by default.
The Users directory contains a directory for each Easy-IP user. Note that the user directory is only created the first time the user logs onto the Easy-IP Server or when an administrator manipulates the user's settings.
There are two types of virtual file. A virtual file that contains data and virtual file that is a symbolic link to a virtual file that contains data. The two types of file have different icons.

Symbolic link to a Virtual File |
By default, all new user files are created as symbolic links to the original default file. If a user edits and saves a file it is saved as a real virtual file and the symbolic link is overwritten.
Virtual Files and Symbolic Links can be deleted by clicking Delete Files.
External files can be imported and exported by clicking the Import Files and Export Files buttons respectively.
It is possible to copy one or more files to selected users in a single operation. To do this, select the files you want to copy from the list and click Copy Files to Users.

Enter the directory under the user directory that you would like to copy the files to and check the users you want to copy the files to. If you want overwrite files that already exist, check Overwrite Existing Files. Click Copy Files to begin.
Note that this function can very quickly break your user files if you use the wrong parameters. Before copying the files it is strongly recommended that you make a backup of your database.
